About The Race

Join us for the seventh annual running of this fun and unique family-friendly event on July 21, 2018. Our primary goal is to promote awareness of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a serious birth defect that occurs in one out of approximately 2,500 births and has a fatality rate of nearly 50%. All race entry fees and product sales for the event will go directly to help children and families whose lives have been impacted by this birth defect. Last year our amazingly generous sponsors covered the entire cost of the race and we were able to raise over $30,000 to benefit the Ladybug CDH Foundation and we’re hoping to be able to do even better this year with your help and generosity.

In addition to our regular 5K and 10K individual events, we are excited to announce another great event, a 10K, 2-Person Relay. Runners and walkers alike will enjoy making their way through the beautiful, stroller-friendly 5K course that begins in Cook Park in Tigard and winds it’s way west through paved and shaded forest trails along the Tualatin River. Leaving Cook Park up a challenging hill and into Tigard neighborhoods to Durham Road and turning at Tigard High School down 92nd Avenue back into Cook Park to the start/finish line. The 10K event picks up at the start/finish line and turns south on the Tualatin River trail through Cook Park making it’s way to the Tualatin River Greenway, past the Tualatin Dog Park and looping back near the Tualatin City Park to a short out-and-back near the Durham Park Off leash area returning back into Cook Park again to the start/finish line.

After crossing the finish line, our 5K and 10k participants will be treated to what many think is the best food, drink, and tasty goodies offered by any race in the Northwest. Participants over 21 will have their choice of great Northwest brewed craft beers and ciders. Be sure to stick around after the race and enjoy great live music and a fun afternoon for the whole family in the park.

All funds from the race go to the Ladybug CDH Foundation ( The foundation benefits children and families whose lives have been affected by a birth defect called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH Occurs in one out of 2,500 births and has a fatality rate of up to 50%.
Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) is a little known birth defect that occurs in approximately one out of every 2,500 births. This condition results from improper formation of the diaphram and causes the baby's abdominal organs to be displaced, inhibiting proper lung formation. Sadly, up to half of children who are born with CDH do not survive. Watch this video to learn more about CDH
You bet! 5K, 10K, and Kids Half-Mile / Mile Race finishers will all get a medal.
Yes, absolutely we do. Without our volunteers there would be no way we could put on this event that gets bigger and better every year. Our sponsors cover our regular expenses like permits, medals, and shirts, but there is so much work that goes into planning and putting on the event and we need all of the help we can get to make it happen.
The course will not be closed. No streets or roads will be closed on race day and public trails in the parks will be open, so we encourage runners to stay on paved trails and sidewalks where available and stay in lanes marked with cones or other markings and be mindful of road traffic and bicyclists and other people using the public trails.

Our Sponsors

Every year our amazingly generous sponsors step up and cover every last dollar of the expenses associated with putting on the race, including food, permits, shirts, equipment, and medals. That way you can be assured that every dollar you spend will go directly to help a CDH child and their family! Be sure to visit their businesses and let them know you appreciate what they do for our event and for the children and families their generous donations help.
